Volunteer Officer

In October 2025 I became a Volunteer Officer at the Manchester branch of The Conservation Volunteers! Back in September, I had a few sessions being a 'Key Volunteer', helping Rebecca run some pond dipping and maintenance groups with some adults with Learning Disabilities at Denzell Gardens and The Devisdale. Being a VO, I've done First Aid and Risk Assessment training, assisted running corporate volunteering days and organised tools around the office in Sale Water Park. I've been making notes about everything in an exercise book.

The main project we're working on is the Mersey Way project; we've been hedgelaying, deadhedging and repairing a post and rail fence. Since the new year, we're doing two days a week - one without volunteers and one with. It's challenging but exciting explaining how to do everything to the volunteers! If you're in Manchester, come join us on a Friday , we have hot drinks and biscuits! The general email is being a bit finicky, so if you don't get an email response from manchester@tcv.org.uk then please ring up, or email me and I'll let you know how best to get in touch.

Soon I'll try upload some photos/ notes etc here :)
